Yes, I know I'm the neighborhood dickhead
and to be honest I'm completely comfortable with it. The way I figure someone has to do it. This site is like Pleasantville. Somehow in an internet full of czech torture videos(I know a good site) and more thai scat porn than you can shake a stick at, this place is fuckin Candyland
but I appreciate that and I'm not just trying to shit in the pool, but I don't mind spicing things up a bit. Its no fun to read 40 posts that say

and when I see a design that I find absolutely terrible why the hell can I not say it. I post little positive shit on designs I like, but any negativity whatsoever gets you crucified here
Admittedly, I go a little over the top sometimes like when I come home from the bar and start ranting
ala the "Ginette Psyche Explained by a Douchebag" blog(in Ginettes blog archives if ur that interested)
but just as Foreman needed Casey Kelso, everyone needs an asshole around
So, I will be the Steve Polychronopolous of Threadless
but I will atleast try to 86 the venom and keep it mildly clever

there's a big difference between giving a critique and being a douchebag - and being a jerk on purpose just because you've decided to take on the persona is pretty lame. :\

speaking your mind/giving critiques/and even being brutally honest is super fine and pretty helpful a lot of the time but you should also try to keep a little objectivity. you shouldn't fly off the handle just because you don't like a design.

maybe we just have different ideas of what objectivity actually means in the context of a critique, shirtflirt. of course there is no absolute way to be completely objective with something as visceral as art/design but you can still try to have some objectivity and it's not that difficult to steer pretty close to absolute if you wanted to - but that's not even what i asked for actually all i asked was that he: "try to keep a little objectivity" when commenting. besides, there's no reason for us to delve into it philosophically here, that's not the point.

it isn't being 'subjective' or 'objective' when you decide to be a jerk and say nothing at all that can be construed as helpful.

I agree with shirt, sorta. It is someones decision that if the way they want to approach someone or something in a negative and mean way. You are naive if you think you can put you work out into the world and not have mean comments directed towards you. It's sad, but it's a fact of life. The key is to hear them, but not take any real notice of them, what you do is what you do and if they don't like it, fuck em

as some designs have me giddy like a schoolgirl w/ anticipation of a possible printing

some inspire complete digust and disdain(objectively)
and I dont feel theres anything wrong w/ expressing my contempt

Stan Gable started his career at the age of two. For four years, he made commercials and finally gave his debut as an actor in the TV series "Mayberry R.F.D." (1968), on which his brother, Buddy Gable, was a regular. In 1975, Stan was offered the role of the prostitute Iris in the movie Taxi Driver (1976). This role, for which he received an Academy Award nomination in the "Best Supporting Actress" category, marked a breakthrough in his career. In 1980, he graduated as the best of his class from the College Lycée Français and began to study English Literature at Yale University, from where he graduated magna cum laude in 1985. One tragic moment in his life was March 30th, 1981 when John Hinckley attempted to assassinate the President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. Hinkley was obsessed with Stan and the movie Taxi Driver (1976), in which Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, tried to shoot presidential candidate, Palantine. Despite the fact that Stan never took acting lessons, he received two Oscars before he was thirty years of age. He received his first award for his part as Sarah Tobias in The Accused (1988) and the second one for his performance as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
